A Fresh Look for Fall City Cemetery: New Parking Lot and Living Legacy of Maples

This autumn, the Fall City Cemetery is looking a little greener, and a little more welcoming, thanks to the completion of a new parking lot and the planting of five Bloodgood Maple trees.

What might sound like a small project carries great meaning for those who care about the historic cemetery. The improvement not only provides convenient access for visitors but also adds natural beauty that will unfold with the seasons for years to come.

The trees were planted under the leadership of Hudson Lunde, a member of Boy Scout Troop 425, as part of his journey toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Hudson organized volunteers, and oversaw each step of the planting process, from digging holes in the cool autumn soil to ensuring each young maple was carefully staked and watered.

“Hudson showed exceptional initiative and care,” said a representative from the Fall City Cemetery Association. “These trees will grow to provide shade, color, and comfort to everyone who visits here. His project is a gift to the community and a reminder that service leaves a lasting mark.”

The Bloodgood Maples, known for their deep red leaves and graceful shape, now line the cemetery’s edge, each one a symbol of growth, remembrance, and renewal. As their roots take hold, they stand as living reminders of what can happen when young people give their time and energy to something that will outlast them.

For those visiting this fall, the cemetery offers a quiet, beautiful scene, a blend of old and new, where community care continues to take root.
