Join the Fall City Cemetery Clean-Up Days: Volunteers Needed!

The Fall City Cemetery Association, in collaboration with the Fall City Historical Society, is calling all community members to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand for Cemetery Clean-Up Days. With two upcoming volunteer events on Sunday, May 5th, and Sunday, May 19th, from Noon to 3 PM, this is your chance to help preserve a piece of local history while giving back to your community.

These clean-up days are a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come together, whether you're a family, a group of friends, or just an individual looking to make a difference. Tasks will include cleaning headstones, weed eating, pruning, and other essential activities that will help the cemetery look its best in preparation for Memorial Day. It’s the perfect way to ensure that the resting place of our community's ancestors remains beautiful and dignified.

To get started, simply bring your garden gloves and any clippers, loppers, or soft brushes you might have. Weed eaters are in high demand, so if you own one, it would be a huge help! The cemetery association will provide headstone cleaner, water, cookies, and lots of smiles to keep volunteers refreshed and energized.

As you work, you may stumble upon a fascinating piece of Fall City’s past. The cemetery is home to the marker of the first non-native burial, dating back to the 1870s. Although the identity of this "Unknown Man" remains a mystery, his presence offers a glimpse into the rich, untold stories of the region’s history. Can you find his headstone among the others?

So, mark your calendars for May 5th and 19th, and come be a part of something meaningful! This is your chance to support a historic landmark, connect with neighbors, and honor those who came before us.

For any questions, feel free to contact:

  • Ron Johnson, Fall City Cemetery Association: 425-999-5491
  • Cindy Parks, Fall City Historical Society: 425-444-6960

The cemetery is located just off SE 47th Street on Cemetery Road, a short drive up from Fall City Preston Road.

Let’s come together to show our care and respect for this sacred space. We hope to see you there!
